Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Diet

Gastric bypass surgery is one that completely revolutionizes the way that we are able to approach massive weight loss. Decades ago, a person carrying what might seem to be an insurmountable amount of fatty tissue on their bodies had fewer options for dropping the weight. Accompanying the 6 drinks per day should be roughly 3 protein supplement drinks per day - though initially you may only be able to drink one per day.

Stage Two:
After those two weeks are complete you can begin ramping up your intake. For weeks 3-6 you can begin working soft foods into your diet. The acceptable foods to consume during this period are soft fruits - like bananas, melons or strawberries - cooked vegetables except corn, fish and seafood, soft pasta, eggs, toast or crackers, and a reliance on liquids. It's important to keep in mind that you MUST chew all of your food during this period extremely thoroughly - almost to a liquefied state. During this period you should not drink liquid with any sort of food and you must wait 30-45 minutes after consuming food to enjoy a beverage. The recommended amount of intake is 4 small meals a day with a liquid protein supplement twice daily in addition. Give yourself ample time to digest each time.

Stage 3:
After 6 weeks your habits can return to something that might seem familiar to your pre-surgery routine. Enjoy three meals a day. Eat all your meals and snacks a set meal and snack time to allow your stomach to get used to the routine of more food entering it. Continue to refrain from drinking liquids during meals, or for 30 minutes after meals. Avoid cheap calories and junk foods like sweets, ice cream, cookies, and chips as all of these items will add high amounts of calories, will not produce a full feeling, and will counteract the work done. Also, at this time you should discontinue your intake of liquid protein supplements.

In summation, try to eat as healthy as possible, chew thoroughly, eat slowly, stay away from empty calories, and when you feel full STOP eating. If you can follow this plan then the weight loss you will experience will be more rapid, long lasting, and complete than any other diet plan could offer. Be in good health and treat your body well.
